    Founded in Berlin (Germany), by Hermann C. Starck as trading company for metals ans ores.

  • 1925

    Foundation of H.C. Starck Inc., in New York

  • 1935

    Acquisition of a majority in Gebr. Borchers AG in Goslar (Germany) which was founded 1807 and started its tungsten production 1889

  • 1948

    Started working on tantalum recovery from residues of hard metal scrap recycling

  • 1950

    Patents for high-purity tantalum metal powders are filed

  • 1951

    Start of the first Na-reduction of K2 salt to make tantalum metal powder

  • 1954

    H.C. Starck the first company worldwide to produce synthetic concentrates from tin slags

    The first liquid-to-liquid extraction unit set up in Goslar

    Bayer AG acquires a majority in H.C. Starck

    Acquisition of V-Tech Fansteel, a Japanese tantalum metal powders supplier

    Acquisition of TTA, a Thai tantalum manufacturer, later renamed H.C. Starck (Thailand) Co. Ltd.

  • 1998

    Patent to produce high-capacitance Ta metal powder via Magnesium reduction process

  • 2002

    Installation of first production for Mg vapour reduction of niobium and tantalum powders

  • 2006

    Capacity expansion of Mg-reduction facility for tantalum

  • 2007

    Bayer divests H.C. Starck to financial investors Advent International and Carlyle Group

  • 2016

    Foundation of H.C. Starck Tantalum and Niobium GmbH in Goslar. H.C. Starck Smelting GmbH & Co. KG becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of H.C. Starck Tantalum and Niobium GmbH

  • 2018

    H.C. Starck Tantalum and Niobium GmbH acquired by JX Mining and Metals Corporation

  • 2020

    H.C. Starck Tantalum and Niobium GmbH changes company name to TANIOBIS GmbH
